Patients and service-users have faced an explosion in easily accessible medical information in recent years with increased information available on the Internet and through other sources. However, sometimes such information can be inaccurate and misleading and care must be taken to ensure as far as possible that patients are given accurate information about their condition, the care that is most appropriate for them and the ways in which they can access the services they need when they need them.
